5 Ways To Make Your Kitchen The Best Room In Your House

It is no secret that the kitchen is the core of every home. It is where families gather for meals, guests join when they visit and where many great memories are created. The kitchen is one of the things that a home’s value is so dependent on as a result. Here are a few ideas of how to ramp up your kitchen and make it the best that it can be.

Flowers and Greenery

An easy way to elevate your kitchen is to put some life into it, literally. Try getting some fresh flowers or greenery. Whether it be a vase placed on a windowsill with fresh flowers, some plants on your open shelves or a centerpiece they will add warmth and even potentially a pleasant fragrance. You can get new flowers seasonally as well to keep things fresh, colorful and season fitting.

Creative Storage Solutions

Storage is always key in any room of the house but especially the kitchen with all of what you need to have in it from cooking utensils to food items. Keeping things organized for both function and aesthetics is important. Do creative things like invest in hanging pot racks, under shelf baskets or a magnetic strip for your knives that is visually pleasing but also very convenient. Also, using the inside of cabinet doors for things like a spice rack, plastic bag holders, additional dish towels or the like can be handy.

Dinnerware

Plain white dishes are always timeless and make a blank slate backdrop for your creative meals, but try getting some colorful or patterned plates and bowls. These can be great to have displayed on your open shelves, in your see-through glass cabinets or set out on the table. This here too can even be a seasonal thing. You may even look for some unique pieces or even a holiday themed set for that time of year.

The Right Lighting

Ambient, warm lighting is important for any room of the house, but getting that right as well as having necessary task lighting is what you need in the kitchen. Overhead lighting is good especially if on dimmers while having some over the island counter or peninsula pendant lights can give enough light while adding style. Under the cabinet lighting is very helpful for much needed task lighting for meal preparation too. Just steer clear of anything too bright or fluorescent that can really ruin the overall look that you are going for.

Decorative Accessories

Artwork and some interesting decorative objects can add personality and top off your kitchen's design. A framed print or painting can fill an empty wall, while decorative things like vases or ceramic bowls can add dimension and some interesting depth to your space. Be sure to select pieces that complement  both your kitchen's color scheme and style.
